Hello from Save Our Savannah!

We are slowly but surely making headway in our attempts to gain traction in our efforts to address the crime issue in Savannah. We have an organizational meeting scheduled for Feb 2nd. The need for a new Police Chief is becoming more and more apparent. Without a new Chief we believe the new crime effort will falter and die. Michael Brown is the main individual involved in the selection process and so far he is not yet aware of the community demand for better policing. A 5% decrease in crime is not on the table; we need to do whatever necessary to dramatically reduce the crime statistics. We have been told by experts that it is entirely possible to reduce crime in Savannah by 30 to 40%. Our goal is to provide government with whatever tools and support necessary for their success.

The number one advantage we have as members of Save Our Savannah is numbers. We currently have over 500 members and need to increase membership to have more influence in our fight against crime. Many of you have offered your time and energy to help us – one of the most important things you can do is talk to someone and have them join our organization. Simply send an email to martinsullivan@saveoursavannah.com and we will add you to the rolls. If 500 current members each added one new member we would be over 1000 members by the end of the week. That represents 1000 votes in the next election. Your membership is important!

The Mayor is holding a town meeting on Wednesday, January 25, and we will keep you advised. Please stay tuned in so that this swell of citizen involvement continues until we are able to leave our homes after dark, secure and unafraid.

Regards,

Martin Sullivan
