1) Draft of Initial Project Scope Information Only. This draft is for potential sponsors – This is not a marketing piece.

2) Public/Private Agreement – To proceed on proposal to install additional lighting and cameras in all 21 downtown parks.

3) Save Our Savannah, Piggly Wiggly and the City of Savannah have agreed to fund and install lighting and cameras in Reynolds Square. The cost to SOS and Piggly Wiggly will be a total of $30,000. This will be our first upgraded square and we hope it will prove to be an excellent example of the public and private sector working together for the common good.

4) At $30,000 per square the total funds required from the private sector is approximately $650,000. It is expected that these funds will come from businesses and individuals interested in fighting crime in Savannah and Chatham County.

5) For example: Our 1st project
Piggly Wiggly $15,000
Save Our Savannah $15,000
City – Connections and Lighting

6) SOS will take on the responsibility of securing initial sponsors, i.e., Savannah Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Business Association and Rotary, in order to develop a Marketing plan that will supply donors for all downtown squares.

7) What will this project do for Savannah and Chatham County? a) Establish a well lit downtown area with surveillance cameras that are proven to reduce crime in specific areas. b) Support our new chief giving him direct involvement from the public. Helping to forge a team with the metropolitan police and the people. c) This project should be only the first step in a public/private initiative to cover the city and all of Chatham County with lights and cameras. Lets reduce violent crime 30% in the next 18 months. d) Establish a downtown wireless area that would allow free access to the internet – good publicity for Savannah. e) Some of the cameras will be available on the internet, giving tourists all over the world an opportunity to visit Savannah over the internet. f) Savannah has suffered quite a bit of negative publicity due to violent crime. This will give us an opportunity to “toot our horn” about crime reduction. g) As more and more individuals and businesses become involved, there will be more public involvement in the fight against crime. More individuals willing and able to work with police and the city and county government in order to make Savannah safe for everyone, everywhere, every day. h) Technology as a crime-fighting tool is a potent weapon.

The cameras in the park along with many others throughout the city will be connected to police vehicles via the new computers scheduled for purchase with the Splost funds. This will measurably increase response time as well as provide the officers a preview of the situation. Save Time, Save Lives.

8) The time is now! Do something today. Please join us in this immediate project to reduce crime NOW. The life you save maybe your son, daughter, wife, mother, father or someone you don’t even know. Remember that person also has loved ones who love and need them.

9) Remember this is our first draft. The Chamber has indicated that they would like to see something in writing. We will need at least two pieces to start. a) Sponsor piece b) Marketing plan

The marketing plan will be developed after we secure the sponsors. Please let Eileen Nuzzo have any comments or ideas for this first piece.

Note: There is no pride of ownership – any comments are welcome.
