Congressman Kingston, Mayor Johnson, Chairman Liakakis and “Save Our Savannah� to host public forum on public safety Monday at Savannah Civic Center WASHINGTON, D.C. -
Congressman Jack Kingston (R/Ga.-1), Savannah Mayor Otis Johnson, Chatham County Commission Chair Pete Liakakis and �Save Our Savannah� will host a town hall meeting Monday to address crime in the city. Along with Sheriff Al St. Lawrence and Police Chief Willie Lovett, they will welcome Charleston, SC Police Chief Emeritus Reuben Greenberg.
Chief Greenberg is known nationally for his innovative methods of combating crime which have been expressed through his writings and his appearances on national television. His book, “Let’s Take Back Our Streets,â€? published in 1989, is used as a reference text for police forces across the nation. He has appeared on television programs like 60 Minutes, Larry King Live, The Phil Donahue Show and The Today Show.
Chief Greenberg is attending at the invitation for Congressman Kingston and Mayor Johnson and, along with the hosts, he will be available to answer questions from the public. “The Mayor, City Council and County Commission have been working to combat crime for many years. Some things have worked well, but we all agree that there is more to do and all ideas are welcome,â€? Congressman Kingston said. “More importantly, none of us are interested in finger pointing; we’re all in this together.â€?
Mayor Johnson urged all citizens interested in public safety to attend Monday’s town hall meeting.

Chief Greenberg will make a brief presentation, after which, a question and answer session will be held for the public. All interested groups and individuals are also invited. The public is encouraged to attend.
